Having really felt the seasons this last 12 months it is fantastic to feel the sun getting warmer, the course getting a little greener and the new season brings lots of fresh flavours to experiment with in the kitchen. No matter what the season Trefloyne is somewhere special but when the sun starts to shine there really is no other place we would rather be.
This year is no different and we have kicked off Spring in style by being awarded Best Team at the recent Pembrokeshire Tourism Awards, and a finalist in Best Serviced Accomodation. Its a fantastic start to the season for us and a great way to get motivated to welcoming all the wonderful visitors and guests we hope to see this year.
As we all start to shake off the winter blues and take in the rays we find ways in which to appreciate our natural surroundings and embrace what nature has to offer. Trefloyne is a wonderful place to do this, the golf course is looking lush and green waiting to challenge even the best player, The Terraces are beeing swept down, comfy chairs and tables coming out of storage ready for you to come and sit back and take it all in....plus if it is a little chilly we have warm blankets in the bar just for you. The perfect escape from reality for just a few hours.

Five Star Trefloyne Manor
After six years and with much hard work and determination brother and sister partnership Tom Beynon and Sarah Knight were delighted to be awarded the Visit Wales 5* for Bed and Breakfast accommodation at Trefloyne Manor.
Whilst it has been very much a family affair, it has been Tom and Sarah who have made Trefloyne the warm welcoming place it is today.
Visit Wales were very impressed with the high standard of design and ambience in the bedrooms and bathrooms, as well as the relaxed atmosphere in the bar and throughly enjoyed their evening in the Terrace Restuarant although we were unaware of thier presence. It has been a labour of love for the familt ro revitalise a beautiful old house and the inspectors were very complementary about the relaxed and friendly way in which they were welcomed, Tom and Sarah just want guests to feel "at home" and with many retunring time and again they are obviously succeeding.
Although Trefloyne is know for the golf course, we get many guests who are non golfers and come to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the Penally countryside and with Tenby beaches just a short stroll away, to quote one of our guests feel "far away from the problems of the world".
Having set the standard Tom, Sarah & Chef Pip Christopher are quietly gaining a reputation for quality home cooking with a twist, using locally sourced and wherever possible, organic produce. The Terrace at Trefloyne is available to everyone no matter what your budget or taste. So wheher its Alfresco lunch, intimate dinner for 2, private party in the restaurant or wedding for 200 in the marquee, let us know what you like to eat, book in advance and we will cook for you. Oh and by the way we now have a civil marriage licence for The Terrace.

Trefloyne at The 2010 Ryder Cup
Even those who don't care much for golf couldn't escape the excitement of last months Ryder Cup at the Celtic Manor, and the team at Trefloyne were right in the middle of it. Gareth Knight, Course Manager, who was selected by Jim Mackensie to be part of 150 strong greenkeeping team. Although the rain kept him on his toes the highlight of the week came for Gareth when he was on the bunker crew for the Michelson/Hanson match on the final day, Gareth said "it was such an honor to be part of Jim's team, and to spend the last day in glorious sunshine walking alongside such great golfers was just fantastic".
Oliver Duckett, Head Professional, was invited by the PGA and Golf Development Wales to provide free lessons to visitors throughout the day. The PGA game improvement centre was based in the tented village, and housed 10 PGA Professionals each giving 18 lessons a day to all ages and abilities. The PGA and Golf Development Wales were overwhelmed with the response to the lessons and but the end of the week over 1000 people have gone throuhg the centre. "It was a fantastic opportunity got me as a professional, and to see so many people eager to learn golf or to improve their game was very encouraging" said Oliver. Due to his success and dedication Oliver has now been invitied to be at the Game Improvement Centre at The Open next year.
Tom and Sarah were also hard at work on the Golf Wales stand, ensuring 45,000 visitors a day came back to play their golf in Wales. It was a pleasure to work alongside the Visit Wales team and other partners including Celtic Manor Resort, The Vale, Golf North Wales and the Wales Golf Holiday Company. The stand looked spectacular showing visitors what Golf in wales is all about. One of the highlights of the weeekwas a visit for HRH Prince of Wales who was incredibly interested to learn all about golf in Wales. Ian Woosnam who is ambassador for golf in Wales, spent an hour with us on the Friday, he remembered playing against local Tenby legends Ian Duffy and Kim Beynon some years ago although it took some memory jogging from Kim!!!!
The first of the practice days also gave our Junior section tickets to go and watch thier golfing heroes up close. With both teams in such good spirits and getting ready to do battle all the juniors were very fortuate to get many autographs and to learn golf from the best.
Although the Ryder Cup has left wales (lets hope not for good), the entusiasm for golf felt throughout that very special week is still strong at Trefloyne and we will never forget being part of it

Trefloyne & Pembrokeshire Fish Week 2010
Whilst golf and fishing don’t tend to go hand in hand Trefloyne is pleased to announce it will be taking part in Pembrokeshire Fish Week 2010 www.pembrokeshirefishweek.co.uk . Kicking it off will be head chef Pip cooking at Milford Docks alongside The Swan, Little Haven Head Chef Andrew Swales www.theswanlittlehaven.co.uk as well as other local top chefs giving their time to support celebrity chefs Matt Tebbutt http://www.thefoxhunter.com/ and Mitch Tonks http://www.mitchtonks.co.uk/ in the counties communal bbq, celebrating local landed fish and the best way to serve it up!!

The diversity of Trefloyne Golf Course
At the beginning of January I made a promise to myself that I would learn how to use the blog on Trefloyne.com! Well January has been and gone and still no blog so today is the day I learn to blog!
After the “big freeze” Trefloyne was slowly starting to come back together and resemble a golf course again, even the green keepers were surprised at getting the grass cut. That was of course until we woke on Saturday morning to what can only be described as a white out. Big fluffy snowflakes settling on a big white blanket, another day the course is closed because of the white stuff.
Time to get to tough and for yet another staff brain storming meeting, after several hours of cursing the snow we came up with a viable solution to our problem we could offer the snow covered golf course as a training ground for the Great British Olympic Cross Country Ski team just in time for the start of the winter Olympics in Canada (www.vancouver2010.com/olympic) this month. The club house into a ski lodge serving Vin Chaud and Fondue and Oliver our resident PGA Professional decided to have a change of career and train to be a ski service engineer and stock Salomon instead of Glenmuir. It’s a win win situation!!
Of course the reality is the snow never last long in Pembrokeshire so with a bit of positive thinking and probably lots of rain the snow will melt and the golf course will once again be ready for play this week.
